SALES TERMS AND CONDITIONS ----------- DISCLAIMER ----------- Springfield College shall assume no liability or responsibility for theft, damage, or loss that may occur during use of parking facilities or services. Individuals choosing to park at Springfield College do so at their own risk. Damage to, misuse, or defacing of Springfield College property or facilities is prohibited and subject to citation and/or criminal prosecution. If you accept a permit under false pretenses you will be subject to citation and/or removal of privileges. If you fail to return a permit upon cancellation you will be subject to citation and/or responsible for payment of time used. -------- PERMITS -------- All parking permits are issued by the authority of Springfield College Police / Department of Public Safety and remain the sole property of Springfield College. Applicants may purchase permits designated and assigned to their user category. For information concerning the specifics Springfield College parking permits (ie. eligibility, classification, rules and regulations) please visit the Springfield College Website. Permits must be fully affixed to the lower-left-hand corner of the driver-side rear window. (Do not laminate or place on plastic with suction cup) All permits must be fully affixed to the window, clearly displayed and visible in its entirety. (Do not laminate or place on plastic with suction cup) If the face of the permit becomes dirty, the permits may be washed with soap and water. Let the permit dry naturally for 5 minutes before reapplying. Permits are non-transferable to another party and valid only on vehicles to which they are assigned. Lost or stolen permits must be reported by contacting Springfield College Department of Public Safety. ----------- FRESHMAN / FIRST YEAR STUDENT PARKING ----------- First-year students who are permitted to have a vehicle on campus for medical or other reasons will be assigned two designated parking areas: Lot 2 and Lot 15, and may park in these lots only. First-year students who fail to park in these assigned lots will be issued a violation that carries a $50 fine. ----------- COMPLIANCE ----------- Every nonresident enrolled as a student at a college in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts who operates a motor vehicle in another state or country during any period beginning on September the first of any year ending on August the thirty-first of the following year shall file in quadruplicate with Springfield College Department of Public Safety, a form approved by the registrar of motor vehicles, a statement signed by him/her under the penalties of perjury providing the following information:-the registration number and make of the motor vehicle and the state or country of registration, the name and local and out-of-state address of the owner, the names and address of all insurers providing liability insurance covering operation of the motor vehicle, the legal residence of such nonresident and his residence while attending such school or college and the name and address of the school or college he/she is attending. He / She shall maintain a full force policy of liability insurance providing indemnity for or protection to him/her and to any person responsible for the operation of such vehicle with his/her express or implied consent against loss by reason of the liability to pay damages to others for bodily injuries, including death at any time resulting therefrom, caused by such motor vehicle, at least to the amount or limits required in a motor vehicle liability policy. “IT IS UNLAWFUL FOR A NONRESIDENT TO FAIL TO FILE A NONRESIDENT DRIVERS STATEMENT WITH THE POLICE DEPARTMENT LOCATED IN THE SAME CITY OR TOWN AS THE SCHOOL OR COLLEGE ATTENDED, IN ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 3 OF CHAPTER 90 OF THE MASSACHUSETTE GENERAL LAWS. FAILURE TO FILE SUCH STATEMENT IS PUNISHABLE BY A FINE NOT TO EXCEED $200.” While driving on any college owned or managed property, individuals must comply with all vehicle laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts / Hampden County, City of Springfield Ordinances, and Springfield College regulations. Unauthorized motor vehicles are prohibited on any surface not designated as a road or driveway and violators will be cited. If necessary, Springfield College reserves the right to revoke parking privileges, and immobilize or tow a vehicle. -------------- CERTIFICATION -------------- I certify that I have read and understood the above statements. I accept the responsibility to comply with all of Springfield College’s Rules and Regulations, all of which are subject to change without notice. I acknowledge that I will be held accountable for my actions and I understand that non-compliance may result in a citation, forfeiture of parking privileges, and/or impoundment of my vehicle(s). PERMITS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE STUDENT PERMITS - The applicable Permit charge will appear on your student account as “PARKING" within 3 business days. Please login to your Student Financial Portal in PrideNET to view your e-bill and make your payment. (Online payments with an ACH checking or savings account are not assessed a fee). FACULTY / STAFF PERMITS - There is NO charge for Faculty / Staff Permits. VISITOR PERMITS - Must be requested in person at the Springfield College Police / Public Safety complex located at 25 Portsmouth St in Springfield. CITATIONS - Must be paid in person within 7 business days at the Springfield College Police / Public Safety complex located at 25 Portsmouth St in Springfield. Payments can only be made with your PrideCard. Failure to pay your citations could result in your account being assessed a $25 monthly late fee, and/or your account being placed with an outside collection agency where you may be responsible for additional collection fees.
